Future for Cotton implements educational and awareness raising projects for sustainable cotton production and ethical consumption of textiles. Furthermore, Future for Cotton gives independent and professional guidance to organisations, businesses and institutions on the use of sustainably produced cotton and supports the assessment of different approaches for sustainable cotton and green fashion.
Cotton with a future?
Humans have used cotton for thousands of years already for clothing as well as art and decoration. Technological progress has turned cotton into a mass market commodity, which it remains today.
Currently cotton production is connected with social unfairness and ecological disasters, which urgently need to be overcome. Business as usual is no option for the future.
Towards a joint objective
The vision of Alexandra Perschau, founder of Future for Cotton is of cotton being produced globally in an ecological way and for the well-being of farmers, farmworkers and their families. Sustainable cotton is the raw material and starting point for ethical and transparent supply chains in fashion industries.
„With this goal in mind, I compile components of different cotton production systems and their implications for sustainability that are relevant for my customers and their specific questions. By this customers can base internal rating systems on independent expertise and are enabled to create efficient decision making processes.”
As an investment for the future, I care for education and awareness raising projects, since a change in society towards conscious consumption, responsible entrepreneurship and social and ecological politics will only succeed if people are enthusiastic.
The future is for those who believe in their visions.
